Is Godsmack heavy metal? Im think for the most part their hard rock, but some songs like "Whatever" can be classified as heavy metal.

(a friend once told me that "originality" could be defined as taking all the things that you'd experienced, and finding different ways to combine them...) -

doesn't strike me as original. Not by far. I would think originality would take some talent, and refinement. Qualities that bands like Demiricous,
Killwhitneydead, Lamb of God, 3 inches of blood, Abigail Wiliams, and especially godsmack all lack!
So, I ask you, is it possible godsmack was only exposed to exposed to Metallica and Alice in Chains and that's them combining "all of the things they experienced? That somebody only own 2 cds growing up? Or is it possible that they are just another corporate grown and every-aspect -of-their-sound controlled "band"?
Originality is still out there. Just not on your local hard rock station.
